Regional Awards
Each year, members of the region are invited to nominate their peers for our regional awards. The awards scheme is designed to recognise and reward those members of Region 20 who have gone above and beyond the call of duty on behalf of other SFI members, their chapter, or the region as a whole, and as such, are awarded for the preceding year. Members can only nominate for one category in the 2023 awards period onwards – this being the Neelix Award.
Chapters as a whole will provide their internal award winners as nominations towards the regional awards for Flag Officer of the Year, and other individual awards.
Awards are also given for different chapters within the region. . The regional awards programme is in addition to the Regional Coordinator’s Commendations, which can be awarded at any time of the year.
The nomination process usually begins at the beginning of February, and finishes at the beginning of March, after which time, the winners are decided by an awards committee chaired by the Chief of Regional Awards, and manned by a representative from each chapter. Identifying information such as names, SCC numbers and chapter information is removed from the individual nominations, in order for the members of the committee to make fair, unbiased decisions. After this process is complete, award winners are notified, and awards presented, either in person, where appropriate, or online.
Winners of the individual awards are then discussed further, and the most outstanding individual of the year is awarded the Archer Medal. To see award winners from previous years, simply click on the buttons below, or go to the individual year subheadings under the “Regional Awards” menu.
